Data Analytics for Detecting Spam Email (12 - 12.45 pm) Many of us have had experiences with junk or spam emails clogging our inboxes. In this talk, we will analyse a publicly available dataset to predict whether an email is spam or not, using several basic techniques in data science. Along the way, our simple exercise will elucidate some of the mechanisms behind automatic spam detection. Speaker: Assistant Professor Sun BaoLuo Asst Prof Sun BaoLuo received his BSc in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and his PhD in Biostatistics from Harvard University. His research interests lie in semiparametric theory, causal inference and missing data. He is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Statistics and Data Science, Faculty of Science.
